Volkswagen Project Trinity, a new concept on the way

Volkswagen has released a new teaser for its “Project Trinity”, the new electric vehicle that will occupy the top of its electric vehicle lineup in the future.

This teaser features a car unlike any other current Volkswagen model. It has four doors, including suicide doors at the rear, a receding roofline, an LED light bar at the rear, and very short front and rear overhangs. Of course, this is probably just a concept car that only foreshadows the production model to come. Volkswagen is expected to start production on the Trinity project in 2026. When launched, it will be supported by a new architecture and will feature electric powertrains as well as much more advanced battery technology than what the German automaker currently uses. It will also be equipped with level 4 autonomous driving.

“Trinity is a kind of crystallization point for our Accelerate strategy, a flagship project, which foreshadows our dream car”, said Ralf Brandstatter, General Manager of the Volkswagen brand recently. “We use our group synergy to make autonomous driving accessible to many people and to build a learning network. In this way, we create the conditions for a continuous exchange of data from our vehicle fleet, for example on the traffic situation, on obstacles or on accidents ”.

The future of Volkswagen?

In addition to the Project Trinity teaser, the LinkedIn post from VW Group President Herbert Diess includes a teaser of a fully electric and fully autonomous MAN-branded truck that does not have a driver’s cab.

These future projects would almost put the 100% electric “ID” range into disuse, while the second model of this new “zero emission” era, the ID.4, has barely started its career.
